Founded in 2014 on the Bund in Shanghai, Matthew Liu Fine Arts has been focusing its program on contemporary artists whose works exhibit a profound understanding and fusion of the essence of classical philosophy and aesthetics in Asian visual culture, as well as theories, methods, and media in Modern and contemporary Western art. The gallery presents six exhibitions each year and has been a vibrant participant in important art fairs. It has been actively working with, advising and assisting museums, curators, private collectors, and institutions in the art world and beyond. Reviews of the gallery’s exhibitions and literature on the represented artists and their works have regularly appeared in prominent local and international publications.

In the past three years, Matthew Liu Fine Arts has successfully launched solo exhibitions for established contemporary masters, including Eduardo Arranz-Bravo, Olivo Barbieri, Bernard Faucon, Candida Höfer, Santi Moix, Vik Muniz, Alberto Peral, Fernando Prats, Agustí Puig, Valery Katsuba, Chen Qiang（陈墙）, Huang Guanqing（黄渊青）, Lu Xinjian（陆新建）Qu Fengguo（曲丰国）, Shen Chen（沈忱）, Yang Yongliang（杨泳梁）, Yin Zhaoyang（尹朝阳） and Zheng Zaidong (郑在东). At the same time, the gallery has brought in exciting exhibitions for emerging young artists, including Thomas Canto, Luong Thai, Javier Martin, Qi Lei（祁磊）, Guo Guozhu（郭国柱）, Shi Zhiying（石至莹）, Mao Guanshuai（毛冠帅）and Yuan Daxi（圆大西）. The gallery publishes scholarly catalogues for each exhibition. Moving forward, we are excited to further our devotion to supporting contemporary regional artists, art production and creativity by infusing more local and Asian talents into the gallery program.
